our impact

What we do

Our purpose is to deliver empowering aid that heals the mind, body, and soul so that everyone we serve can lead more abundant, Christ-filled lives. By listening to those we serve, we are able to have the greatest impact and share God’s love along the way.

This year, Vision Africa is celebrating 25 years of impact. Watch the video below to get a better understanding of what your gifts provide.

OUR IMPACT AREAS

Our areas of impact are guided first by God and then by our dedication to empowering the mind, body, and soul. We seek to bring comfort, enrichment, love, and hope to our ever-expanding field of mission. With every program we fund, we ask first, “how does it serve the mind, the physical body, or the spiritual soul?” Only by passing that litmus test does a program become eligible for funding and inclusion.

RADIO MINISTRY

Through Vision Africa Radio – Love 104.1 FM –  we share God’s love 24/7  through faith-based education, health, community service and leadership broadcasting. While televisions and internet access are still scarce in Nigeria, radios are easily accessible and common to most homes.

Millions of people rely on Love 104.1  for connection, information, spiritual guidance, and educational opportunities. As one of the few non-government owned stations, its listeners are increasingly turning to Love 104.1 for unbiased news coverage of current events.

Vision Africa planned, constructed, developed, and launched this award-winning radio station over 10 years ago. Today, it serves as a hub for all our ministries through broadcasts covering topics such as Christian values, disease prevention and treatment, education as a conduit of opportunity, and respect for others as a bridge to peace.

Medical & Hospital

Since its inception, Vision Africa has made accessible medical care a pillar of its mission. Regular medical missions have been held every year of our ministry with a goal of reaching communities with no other healthcare options.

Today, those missions have bloomed into The Agnes Onuoha Memorial Hospital, a 50-bed facility which will offer emergency care, surgery, pre- and post-maternal care, neonatal and pediatric services, and more to a population of tens of thousands with no current access to medical care. Plans and dreams for AOMH also include a research arm to study endemic diseases, collect data, and inform medical explorations around the globe.

Our medical vision also includes more water wells and community education about clean water, and the expansion of our hygiene and education programs for young women.

Leadership Training

We believe strongly in the power of vision, both individually and collectively.  That’s why we are committed to encouraging Africa’s youth to discover their own visions and how to share and shape them into personal realities.

Leadership training is offered in campus fellowship meetings and in conferences and seminars for both students and young adults in leadership positions. Love 104.1 dedicates extensive  programming to leadership programs that include on-air school debates (with prizes!) and “Youth Parliament,” a forum to discuss current events and moral issues with the goal of reaching solutions that promote peace and a healthier society.

Vision Africa also provides internship opportunities, job skills training, and media training.

Care for the Forgotten

The Christian Bible instructs us to “carry each other’s burdens,” “visit the orphans and widows in their affliction,”  care for the sick, and visit those in prison. In fact, Jesus said that when we care for them, we have cared for Him, and when we ignore those needs, we ignore Jesus.

Vision Africa takes that instruction to heart.  We love and support orphanages and prisons with empowering aid in the form of power generators, renovations, vegetable gardens, and practical day-to-day needs.

We hear the cries of the “forgotten,” and we have so much more we want to do. Are you being called to help? Read on for more stories of hope and how you can be involved.

“Fish Food Rice” Becomes Dietary Staple in Nigeria

Runaway inflation and the freefall of the naira are making an already precarious existence even more dire for the average Nigerian, forcing many to subsist on rice grains that are normally thrown away or fed to fish. The grains are broken, dirty, tough, and don’t...
