This November, Vision Africa Radio, LOVE 104.1 FM, will celebrate 20 years of on-air ministry, thanks to God, our faithful donors, and all those God called to the work of the station that now reaches millions of listeners every day. We will be marking this milestone in many ways in the months to come, culminating in a celebration in Nigeria for listeners and friends.
Observances will begin at VA’s annual Media Institute during the first week of July, where media professionals, dignitaries, students, and media entrepreneurs will gather in person and online from around the world to learn, share, and grow together in how to share news and the Good News over the airwaves. In the U.S., a social media campaign is planned for August to collect donations for solar radios to be given away in Nigeria at the ICONS singing competition so that those without electricity can still have access to radio programming. Our partner, Galcom International, will be giving a 50 percent match to the donations, meaning that every $35 donation will buy two radios during the campaign. Galcom provides technical equipment for communicating the Gospel worldwide. The solar radios will be shipped straight to Nigeria in time for the November radio celebrations. You can participate in this exciting campaign even if you are not on social media, and we will be telling you how in the coming weeks.
In addition, VA’s fall luncheon on September 19 will celebrate the radio station’s ministry and the ways God has blessed His people through two decades of radio programming. Sharon Geiger, Assistant General Manager of KCBI Christian radio in Dallas, will be our featured speaker, and Nigerian-born and well-known pianist Lewis Warren, Jr., will entertain during the gathering time. Invitations and more information on the luncheon will be coming to you in the next two weeks, so watch your inbox!
