Cindy Woods
Cindy Woods Bio
Cindy Woods was named Executive Director of Vision Africa in December of 2021. In that role, she connected the ministry with Project C.U.R.E. and the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences at Texas Christian University, both of whom contributed most of the equipment and supplies to outfit the Agnes Onuoha Memorial Hospital being constructed by VA in rural southeast Nigeria. During her tenure Woods also oversaw a major re-brand of the non-profit, the revamping of its website, and the establishment of a major presence on social media. She developed and authors Vision Africa Sightings, a monthly newsletter highlighting mission activities and donor opportunities. Woods also serves as event planner for the annual Vision Africa Golf Tournament, which has tripled in net donations since 2021.
In addition to her work with Vision Africa, Woods is the author of two faith-based biographies, “Half the Man, Twice the Faith,” and “He Knew Me First.” Research for the latter book took her deep into the country of Nepal, where the book is set and where Christian evangelism is illegal, and the practice of Christianity is largely underground. She also serves as a writing tutor to students in fifth grade through graduate school, with a specialty in essays for admission to schools, programs, or study abroad.
Born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, Woods has been a Dallas resident since 1983. She formerly was the community relations manager and an award-winning executive speech writer for a Dallas-based electric utility holding company, where she wrote for the firm’s top five executives. She holds a summa cum laude Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Louisiana Tech University, where she was editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper. Woods has been active in many areas of community service, particularly with the Girl Scouts of America and within her church, Highland Park United Methodist, where she also is an active choir member. She is the mother of a son and daughter ,“bonus mom” to a son-in-law and daughter-in-law” and “Cici” to two “granddogs.”
